I’m thrilled at the prospect of promoting Kōwhai and the Giants by newbie writer Kate Parker in March 2021. Currently a visual artist and theatre maker, Kate is of Ngati Maniapoto, English and Greek descent, and grew up roaming the bush and riding horses in Kaeo. She has now written and illustrated a captivating story, full of aroha and urgency. Kate enjoys watching wildlife, being near the forest and the sea, and finding ways to support our planet. Her plea to protect our biodiversity by planting a forest, one seedling at a time, is a treasure. I can’t wait to see Kōwhai and the Giants in the hands of Kiwi kids!
